After using this stone for the first full day he claims to have smashed his American made 4000/8000 combination stone in the back lane out of frustration. He claims it was this Norton Waterstone that held him back and stopped him from getting the sharpening results he wanted. Use for any Japanese kitchen knife, hunting knife, woodworking chisel or straight razor. The mirror edge it leaves will impress. Enjoy smooth cutting.

When to use this stone

• Fine polishing stone needs a progression from a 2000-6000 grit first. Essential for meat and fish knives specifically.
• Not great for wide bevel/knife thinning sharpening, as this stone is very hard.
• Excellent for daily/weekly touch-ups for Japanese knives, specifically those used for precision work or meats and fish.
